Brown Wins, People Lose
01/21/2010
Voters here in Massachusetts are mad about having lost their jobs, their health insurance -- and  their minds, it turns out. That's why they voted for Republican Scott Brown and his truck. They forgot that the way they lost so much was due to the insidious presidency of George W. Bush.
Martha Coakley didn't stand a chance in the face of such profound denial. Even if she had run a pitch-perfect campaign, it would have been a steep uphill climb to persuade voters that she, as a Democrat, could help restore the country to its highest ideals. The voters believe that a conservative Republican, of all people, will put the country on track. That's how mad they were this past Tuesday. And now, the rest of the country will pay for their temper tantrum.
