Part-time Intake Worker/Visit Monitor (22.5 hours/week)

YWCAWednesday/Friday 12:00 – 8:30p, Saturday 9:30a-3:30p

with flexibility for intakes and to meet program needs

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High school diploma with minimum 3 years relevant experience in human services field required;  Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Must have prior experience working with victims of violence and/or those who have perpetrated violence in an intimate partner relationship
  • Must have experience and knowledge of child development and impact of domestic violence on children
  • Familiarity with court systems and legal issues affecting victims of domestic violence
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication and observational skills
  • Must have demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to resolve conflict in appropriate ways
  • Must have the ability to be a strong team player.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Intake Worker:

  • Schedule and conduct in-person intakes and risk assessments with both custodial and non-custodial parents and arrange for in-depth site tour and interview with all children prior to first visit
  • Ensure parties are referred as necessary to outside referral sources for domestic violence, batterer’s treatment, counseling, financial assistance, etc.
  • Communicate in a timely manner with Direct Care Supervisor on any issues during intake process and outcomes of intake appointments
  • Ability to input data into Client Track case management software system within deadline
  • Flexible schedule to meet needs of clients, including evening and Saturday presence at Visitation Center sites

 

 

Visit Monitor:

  • Assist with set up and closing of centers to include setting up of rooms and cleaning up at end of the day
  • Assist in coordinating arrival of non-custodial parents 15 minutes before each visit, ensuring they are waiting in designated area, supervised by guard and ensure non-custodial parents are held back an additional 15 minutes at end of each visit
  • Ensure safe transition of child from/to custodial to/from non-custodial parent at beginning and end of each visit
  • Get briefing on visiting families prior to their arrival
  • Conduct monitoring and observation of non-custodial parent visits with his/her children, and keep detailed factual notes of what transpires during visit including direct quotes.
  • Interact in neutral manner with custodial parents and children, ensuring there is no discussion of any matters unrelated to the visit at hand.
  • Model appropriate parenting behavior and encourage healthy parent child relationships.
  • Ensure parties are referred as necessary to outside referral sources for domestic violence, batterer’s treatment, counseling, financial assistance, etc.
  • Responsible for knowing and enforcing center rules and policies, and make interventions as necessary.
  • Communicate in a timely manner with Lead Monitor on any incidents and issues
  • Ensure that transportation of children at exchanges and visits adheres to all safety laws/policies regarding seat belts and car seat requirements and refuse to allow child to be transported unless law is being adhered to.
  • Monitor visits at both Visitation Center sites as needed for coverage.
  • Attend trainings and staff meetings as required.
  • Attend supervision as required
  • Other relevant duties as necessary

Location:  Springfield/Northampton              Hourly Rate:  $12.00
